Winners Announcement:

Honorable Mentions

Cynthia Hudson Keane | @AuthorCAKeane
Sage says: This story was actually my secret favourite—I am an erotic romance author after all so naturally this scene appealed to me. It is a very well written snippet that makes me want to read more of this story. The author did a very good job allowing the reader to relate to the narrator and to get into his/ her headspace. The only reason I didn’t pick this tale as the winner is that I would have preferred some sort of information regarding the premise of the story. In a scenario like this, it makes a huge difference whether the torture is consensual or forced and I for one would have needed to know if the “victim” has actually agreed to this.

Rebecca Brennan | @bexbrennan
Sage says: This one is an interesting and vividly written scene. The dialogue draws the reader in quickly although to be honest, I found it a little difficult to understand what’s happening at first and had to re-read bits. I believe it works well in context with the full story but I would have preferred a tad more information to “get” the stand-alone snippet.

 Sandra Bunino | @SandraBunino
Sage says: This snippet is well written and a nice, easy read. The premise is clear and the talk of the “surprise” for Mia raises the reader’s curiosity while the information about the relationship dynamic helps relate to this couple.

Week 86 Winner

Sage says: This snippet is my favourite because it is very well written and intriguing. The premise is clear from the start, so it’s easy for the reader to understand what’s going on and to really get drawn into the story. The internal conflict and vivid descriptions make for an entertaining read that I would love to see more of. Also, this was one of the most creative ways to include the prompt. Well done and congrats!

The CDC called those like me a pandemic. The public called us vampires. For me, I hadn’t lost control in so long I’d almost forgotten to be afraid of what lived inside me. So as the ER moved through its nightly pace of stretchers, victims, and emergency personnel, I didn’t worry.

I didn’t worry until a blown vein sprayed blood all over me. It spurted up my nose, in my mouth, and the thing inside me roared, twisting my features into something monstrous.

Eat it. Drink it. Bathe in it. Mine, mine, mineminemine.

I hid my face in my hands.

They don’t know what you are. They don’t know how much you want to devour them all.

Strong arms scooped me up. The smell of him mixed with the blood, some still-human piece of me recognizing him.

“Scythe?”

“I’ve got you.”

“There’s blood everywhere. Every breath is heat and iron. God, it’s so good. I need it.”

“I know, baby. Just hold on to me. I’ll get you out of here.”

I lifted my arms around his neck, burying my misshapen face against his neck where the scent of wolf lay strongest. The lycan didn’t draw me in like a human, but the thump of his pulse beneath my lips enthralled me.

“You smell so, so—”

“You will resist.” The wolf altered his voice, and Scythe’s body rippled. The change hovered close, the lycan ready to burst forth and answer the threat I posed. “Don’t make me kill you.”

Congratulations NINE Time Winner Cara, Cynthia, Rebecca, and Sandra! Don't forget to claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it! :)
